IHME Client Portal

Developed for: 

Since 2016, MAKE has been the technology provider for Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), a project co-funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The “IHME Client Portal” that MAKE developed, is used by 8 of the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies under license from IHME.

  • The IHME Client Portal is the central delivery platform for terabytes of IHME public health data
  • Fully permissioned, organizations and their employees access licensed data sets, and visualize and export charts
  • In use by thousands of employees across dozens of the largest global public health organizations, the Client Portal uniquely enabled IHME to deliver critical data insights to public health decision makers

Maternal Health Atlas

Developed for: 
  • In collaboration with Merck, the Maternal Health Atlas aims to highlight the state of maternal health in countries around the world, as a first step to meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals
  • Various configurable data visualizations, including exportable country factsheets, offer the user maximum insight into the state of maternal health.

World Heart Observatory

Developed for: 
  • With support of Novartis and Bristol Myers Squibb, the World Heart Federation launched the MAKE-developed World Heart Observatory to inform evidence-based decision-making for health at population levels, with regards to the number 1 killer globally, Cardiovascular Disease
  • The WHO application was received with much praise globally from public health officials and organisations alike

Global Listening Project

Developed for: 

Leveraging thousands of international survey results to produce a proprietary Societal Preparedness Index, the Global Listening Project aims to better understand public preparedness in times of crisis. Visitors to the website have access to cutting-edge content including publications, podcasts, and news articles from the GLP team of experts, as well as the ability to explore the Societal Preparedness Index itself through interactive charts and visualizations.

Covid-19 Pandemic Projects

  • During the Covid-19 Global Pandemic, MAKE developed several applications to assist governments and corporate decision makers in making data-based policy
  • The Early Detection Program helped prevent the spread of Covid-19 amongst the thousands of employees of the Washington and Alaska fisheries and maritime industry
  • The local outbreak risk assessment tool was designed to help an S&P-100 multinational  manage policies for its 1M+ employees across hundreds of locations

Brain Health Atlas

Developed for: 

The Brain Health Atlas provides comprehensive insights into conditions affecting the human brain. Developed by experts in neuroscience, it offers interactive charts and factsheets helping researchers and medical experts better understand the impact of brain health and brain-related diseases.

The work is supported by several organizations, including Gates Ventures, Microsoft, Roche, the AARP, and the American Heart Association (AHA), and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). Seed funding for the development of the Brain Health Atlas has been provided by Roche.

Hepatitis Facts

Developed for: 

The IHME Hepatitis platform allows researchers to review the global impact of hepatitis and related conditions on health metrics such as early death, years of life lost and disability.

HIV Atlas

Developed for: 

The HIV Atlas explores the burden of HIV/AIDS over time and simulates future HIV/AIDS outcomes that could result from scenarios exploring decreases in development assistance funding.

Population Health Clock

Developed for: 
  • The Population Health Clock was developed as a collaboration between the Center for Observational and Real World Evidence at Merck, The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, Doctor Evidence and MAKE.
  • The Population Health Clock is an integrated predictive tool that utilizes multiple available data sources to predict future disease burden. It generates estimates and visualizations of the impact of current and future Merck product portfolios on population health.

Women and Cardio

Developed for: 

The goal of the project was to embed an entire data visualization experience on the client’s website, providing a seamless user experience and full suite of tools to bring insight and clarity to women and cardiovascular disease trends.

Comorbidity Tool

Developed for: 
  • A Client Portal tool that allows permissioned users the ability to explore and visualize the correlation between two comorbidities using the Global Burden of Disease Study and representative (USA) population survey data.
  • Users can view estimates, by age and sex, of comorbid prevalence for approximately 500 disease pairs among the general population in the United States.

IHME Comment Review Online

Developed for: 

A collaboration tool commissioned by IHME to help streamline feedback collection for academic manuscripts from a global network of 10,000+ collaborators. Through this tool, researchers from 150+ countries worldwide, peer-review and provide corrections and improvements to dozens of the highest-regarded scientific publications annually.

Multiple Myeloma Simulation

Developed for: 
  • A new Factsheet style tool for the IHME Client Portal focused on multiple myeloma simulations.
  • Built for IHME client Sanofi, the simulation tool visualizes results from complex simulation studies and puts those results into context layering in summaries of GBD data.
  • The simulation tool is intentionally built to be flexible so future condition simulations can be supported without much development effort.

Medical Benevolence Foundation

Developed for: 
  • The Medical Benevolence Foundation (“MBF”) wanted a simple, intuitive web platform to support its initiative to guide hospitals, governments and funders to understand the trajectory of disease outcomes in order to guide effective investments in improvement to a country’s health.
  • The platform allows audiences to visualize and interact with trends and forecasts at the country level while viewing comparable countries or regions.
